Obituary of Evelyn Marie Conger

Evelyn Marie Congers, age 88 passed away on March 27th, 2023 after battling cancer. She was born July 15th, 1934 in little Rock Arkansas Many knew her as "Spitfire" because of her fierceness, which undoubtedly gave her the strength to look after her five younger sisters and four younger brothers following the death of their mother, Naomi Harris. Evelyn was still young herself.

In her early days Evelyn loved car racing and dancing. Although she enjoyed hobbies similar to the children of her age, her benevolent nature found greater fulfillment in the time she devoted to family and friends. Her initiative was admired as she was always the first to offer help wherever it was needed.

As she grew older the woman known as Evelyn evolved to who we now know as sister Conger. She became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and spent a good portion of her life serving her God Jehovah. Outside of family she developed a love for gardening, challenging puzzles, sewing, cleaning, thrift shopping, savory meals, and a delicious cup of coffee to accompany it. Most of all, she found joy in reading the scriptures, attending meetings at the Kingdom Hall, and preaching about God’s Kingdom. In her last days she was in the comfort of her home surrounded by family members who sung her favorite songs to her. 

Evelyn is survived by her 2 sisters Shirley Tarvin and Margaret Somer, her children Angelina Sanchez, Walter Bridges, Earline De La O, William Bridges, and Cynthia Wiltz; as well as 17 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. 

She was preceded in death by her two daughters Janet Bridges and Lavern Morales and her two sons, Lonnie and James Bridges.
